As a final action, Zoie Brown gave away the ten plants she took care of during her experience abroad in Florence. The recipients were ten strangers she encountered who agreed to take care of the plants in her absence.
During the performance she approached all different kinds of people and introduced herself in Italian. At the end of the conversation she asked if they would be willing to take care of one of her plants. If they said yes, she gave them one, as well as a card containing care instructions in both Italian and English. If the person was too skeptical and said no, then she said goodbye and moved on. This act symbolizes giving away parts of the self, manifested in these plants and in the time she spent in Florence. It seeks to question ideas of ownership, obligation, and the responsibility people assume when they take care of plants.
