Hi! I’m Zoie. Efflorescent Studio is my floral design business based in the Hudson Valley and New York City area.
In my work I want to honor the elements of our environment that many people overlook. Recontextualized in a clean venue, or set on an intimate dinner table, a small meadow flower or an unwieldy branch from the forest floor becomes a spectacle. It forces you to consider them more deeply, and be present in that moment.
I have a Fine Arts background in sculpture, but I have always been intensely fascinated by flowers. I don’t think there’s a version of myself that’s not making something, and I’m so grateful I’ve found a way to bring people into my world. As a kid I would draw and paint flowers, always spending time in the garden with my mom. Later I learned I could create natural forms with paper, plaster, clay, metal, silicone. Now I’ve realized that with flowers as my medium, I can sculpt with the material I was trying to mimic.
Weddings have become my favorite thing to create for because I love love (!!!) and flowers are inherently romantic. You all are my favorite collaborators. I find so much joy in knowing the seasonally specific combination of color and shape that will be meaningful to you.
